Wilderness adventure

Metsähallitus the Forest and Park Service is a state enterprise that manages, utilises and protects Finland´s state-owned lands, forests and waters under its administration. The Recreational Services administer some 500,000 hectares of fisheries, nearly 8 million hectares of hunting areas, 9 hiking areas and some 250 other recreation areas.

The Wild Nort is a trade mark registered by the Forest and Park Service. The Wild North covers all the nature travel services of the Recreational Services.

The Wild North also has over 250 rental cabins all over the country. The cottages are usually rather modesty equipped, but there are also cottages with all facilities. The size of the cabins varies from small huts in the wilderness (3 to 4 persons) to the large estates (60 persons). Well-equipped and big cottages are suited, for example, for meetings. The surroundings of our cottages offer many kinds of possibilities to enjoy the beautiful Finnish nature. You will enjoy fishing, wandering, canoeing, berry picking, hunting, and doing many other activities.

The location of our cabins is beautiful and there are no neighbours. Many of our cottages are old forest workers´ bunkhouses, where you can feel the atmosphere of the lumberjack days gone by.

The nation-wide cottage organization, the many-sided built structures which are in balance with nature and the solid knowledge of nature and the local culture that our nature professionals have offer superior frames for arranging the nature packages.

Come and Enjoy Nature!
